The sound of the entrance music signals pride and tension.
A few seconds then - Approach * Take off * Double Somersault * Double
Twist - Upside Down. Two seconds later the feet are back on the ground
again!
This is a unique chance for Wellingtonians to see the Elite Team from the Danish
Academy of Physical Education.
The Elite Team is an explosive mix of 30 young men and women, all present or
former students of the Academy. The team travels overseas regularly to
represent Denmark with its diverse and exciting performance, demonstrating
ground-breaking developments in the sport of display gymnastics.
The uniqueness and variety in the performance is brought about by the diversity
of the athletes themselves, their ages, and their abilities. The
spectacular performance is enhanced with music and showcases dance, danger and
gravity-defying acrobatics.
The performance in Wellington will be opened by display gymnastic teams from
local clubs, top Wellington artistic and rhythmic gymnasts, cheerleading and a
local CircoArt group.
The live performance "Acrobatics Extravaganza" will be held at the Queens Wharf
Events Centre on Monday 11 October at 7pm. Tickets are available from
Ticketek.
